Our Approach in Agriculture

THE FARM IS THE CLASSROOM

In Vidarbha, farming is not a subject – it is survival, identity, and opportunity. AGVS integrates agriculture into every layer of school life. Students grow crops, harvest turmeric, visit organic farms, and learn the economics of produce.

When students harvested turmeric and asked ‘Did we earn a profit? Which variety is this? Where else is turmeric grown?’ – that is when real education happened. The farm doesn’t just teach farming. It teaches economics, ecology, geography, and pride.

On-campus Farming

Farming is timetabled and treated as core academics — not a club or weekend activity. Students grow, harvest, and manage crops through the year, asking real questions: which variety is this? Did we earn a profit?

Visits to Progressive Farms

The best teachers of farming are farmers themselves. Students visit working farms to witness multi-cropping, contour farming, and sustainable land management firsthand — and some have returned certain they want to pursue organic farming as a life path.

Natural Oil Production

AGVS cold-presses agricultural produce into natural oils in its own on-campus oil mill. Students understand the full chain from crop to product – a daily demonstration that rural self sufficiency is not distant ideal.

Abhyudaya Naturals

Abhyudaya Naturals will take the school’s farm produce and turn it into market-ready value added products – demonstrating that rural communities can build thriving local economies rooted in what they already know and grow.

Agriculture as Entrepreneurship

At AGVS, agriculture is a launchpad, not a fallback. Students learn to see farming through the lens of enterprise – costing, value addition, and innovation – to choose the land with confidence, not by default.
